Simsbury Townwide Jazz Festival – Saturday April 2 at 7PM
Simsbury Friends for Music & the Performing Arts presents the Town-Wide Jazz Festival featuring Trumpeter Larry Gareau, Jazz Musician and founder of the Larry Gareau Quartet and Trio. Join us on April 2 at 7 pm in the Simsbury High School Auditorium, 34 Farms Village Road.
“The annual Town-Wide Festival, generously funded by the Simsbury Friends for Music & the Performing Arts, develops a sense of community among jazz students in grades five through twelve,” explained Angela Griffin, Director of Simsburyʼs Music & Performing Arts Department. “It expands musical borders and enables valuable experiences! The Town-Wide Jazz Ensemble is a special and fun opportunity for our jazz students to learn together in a clinic setting and to perform notable works.”
Gareau is a trumpeter, jazz ensemble musician, performer and educator, with an extensive list of impressive experiences. He has played supporting performances with Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra Jr., Aretha Franklin, Bernadette Peters, Johnny Mathis, Franki Valli, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Ojays, Mannheim Steamroller, The Irish Tenors, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mickey Dolenz, Don Rickles and Regis Philbin. Larry is on the faculty of Central Connecticut State University and The Hartt School Community Division.
